Kayaking to the Ivanovsky Islands

Our trip starts at the Botanical Garden – a very beautiful place where you can see the plants from Africa, America and Europe. Here you can find famous Karelian Birch.

You will visit a geological monument called the Devil’s Chair – a rock in form of a giant throne.

Then, you are going to do an exciting kayaking trip to the Ivanovsky Islands.There you can still find the remains of the fortified buildings of the World War II period.

You will hear the local legends and see the abandoned lighthouse.

The Route:

Petrozavodsk – the Bolshaya Vara Mountain (Devil’s Chair) – the Botanical Garden – the Ivanovsky Islands – Mayachny Island (the Island of the Lighthouse) – Peday Island – Petrozavodsk

Day 1
Transfer to the shore of the Onego Lake
Excursion to the Botanical Garden
Visiting the Grand Vara Mountain (Devil’s Chair)
Lunch
Briefing on safety
Equipment distribution and packing
Training sessions 
Kayaking to the Ivanovsky Islands
Setting up the camp on Peday Isand
Dinner and overnight stay at the camp 

Day 2
Breakfast
Kayaking to Mayachny Island (the Island of the Lighthouse)
Walking across the Mayachny Island, visiting the Lighthouse and the forts
Lunch 
Kayaking to Pinguba village (17 km)
Returning the equipment
Transfer to Petrozavodsk
Dinner in one of the cafés of the town
Transfer to the airport or railway station of Petrozavodsk (on request, charged 1500 rub per group) 

A tour guide may change the route depending on the weather conditions and the tourists' skills and experience
