Legend of Kizhi

We invite you to a magical journey across Lake Onega to the legendary Kizhi Island. You will enjoy the speed and thrill of riding a snowmobile. Also you will visit ancient Karelian villages which are especially charming in winter. And, of course, you will see legendary Kizhi, the gem of Karelia.

Route:

Petrozavodsk - Ivanovsky Islands (Nikolsky Strait) - Shardon Islands - Cape Chazhnavolok - Syar island - the Sosnovstsy Islands- the old village of Yuzhny Dvor - village of Litovtsy - Island of Kizhi - Volkostrov - Eglovo - village of Velikaya Guba - lake Yandamozero - village of Ust-Yandoma - village of Tipinitsy - Volkostrov - village of Podyelniki - Island of Kizhi - Kizhi archipelago – Bolshoi Lelekovsky island - the island Kamen Monak - Ivanovsky island - Petrozavodsk

Day 1

We meet you at the station and take you to the comfortable hotel. Right in the hotel, we will arrange a briefing and equip you. Some training on snowmobile riding will take place on the frozen Onega Lake.

After packing we ride down the route: Petrozavodsk - Ivanovsky Islands (Nikolsky Strait) - Shardon Islands - Cape Chazhnavolok - Syar island - the Sosnovstsy Islands- the ancient village of Yuzhny Dvor (founded in the 15th century, with the Church of St. Nicholas (17-18 century). There you enjoy delicious hot field lunch and continue driving down the route: village of Yuzhny Dvor - village of Litovtsy - Island of Kizhi. Upon arrival at the legendary island we check-in at a cozy guest house. A sauna will help to get warm and relax. A tasty dinner will conclude the day.


Day 2

Right after breakfast we set off on a guided tour to Kizhi. After the tour, we take the radial route: Island of Kizhi - Volkostrov - Eglovo - village of Velikaya Guba - lake Yandamozero. On the way we stop for lunch and then continue along the route: village of Ust-Yandoma - village of Tipinitsy - Volkostrov - village of Podyelniki. After visiting monuments of Karelian wooden architecture and seeing beautiful winter islands, we return to the guest house. There we will enjoy a hot sauna and delicious dinner.


Day 3

After breakfast, we pack and go back to Petrozavodsk. The route: Island of Kizhi - Kizhi archipelago – Bolshoi Lelekovsky island - the island Kamen Monak - Island Ivanovsky - Petrozavodsk. After a sauna and a farewell dinner at the hotel, a transfer will take toy you to the railway station.


A tour guide may change the route depending on the weather conditions, thickness of ice of the lake and the tourists' driving skills and experience.
